The easy five-step to guide for the best way to diffuse essential oils in a room

Knowing how to diffuse essential oils in a room is more complicated than plugging in a diffuser and forgetting about it. Making the right choices in oil type and where you place your diffuser can be the difference between wasting money and helping make your home a place that is inviting and full of vibrancy. Go through the five-step plan below to make your oils and diffuser help you live up to your maximum potential.

Step one: Choose the right kind of diffuser

To use your essential oils to scent a room the first step is to choose the right type of diffuser to buy. Diffusers come in all shapes and sizes and can be purchased from many different sources. To see more about diffusers, see the link here to our article about choosing the right diffusers.

Essentially, there are different types of diffusers—those that require electricity and those that don’t. Natural diffusers can be any kind of object that can slowly emit essential oils such as clay stones, reeds, and many other types of household objects. Electric diffusers come in many variations as well that can emit sweet scents at different rates. Some use more water and can diffuse faster than others, but will also cost more. The important thing is to identify your needs and buy a diffuser to match them. Ask yourself: What will I be using this diffuser for? How strong do I want the scent to be?

Step two: Choose the right room(s)

Once you have your diffuser, it’s important to find which room you want to put it in. Ask yourself: How do I picture this room smelling? What should this room smell like? Does this room need to be scented? Once you have answered those questions, it’s easy to find what rooms need to be scented in your home. Whether it’s your bathroom, living room, dining room or all of the above, finding your vision for what you want each room to smell like is crucial.

Step three: Set up the diffuser

This is the easiest of the three steps because all it requires is to set up your diffuser in the room that you have chosen. Whether you have an electric or natural diffuser, simply put it in a central location that has good airflow and decide if you want it to be used as a decoration or be out of the way (usually natural are used as decoration, and electric are not).

Step four: Choose the right oil type of oil for you

There are thousands of essential oils and oils combinations, and it can be a daunting task to choose the right combination for your lifestyle. To help, read the following article about choosing the right type of oil. Remember that it’s essential to test for any allergies by putting a small drop of the selected oil on your skin and gently inhaling to wait and see if you have a kind of allergic reaction. Also, remember that experimentation can be a fun and rewarding thing to do with your oils. Trying new combinations and scents in your rooms can be a great way to mix things up and always keep your house smelling fresh.

Step five: Enjoy!

Enjoy the scent combinations, and the refreshing wave of essential oils smells that diffusing can provide. Change the oils that you are diffusing depending on your mood and the room that you are in. Remember, the most important thing you can do is have fun with your diffuser. Diffusing oils can be fun and provide many health benefits as seen in this article.
